The reason why fiber laser cutting machines are widely popular in the sheet metal processing industry is because of their advantages such as high production efficiency, high cutting accuracy, and low labor costs. However, there are exceptions to everything, and many users have reported that the production efficiency of the machine is not as ideal as imagined. Let's take a look at the reasons for the low production efficiency of fiber laser cutting machines.
1. Not using nesting software
During layout and cutting, nesting software is not used, but manual layout is performed in the system, cutting in sequence according to the order of part cutting. This will cause a large amount of leftover materials to be generated after cutting the board, resulting in low utilization rate of the board, and the cutting path is not optimized, resulting in long cutting time and low production efficiency.
2. No automatic cutting process
The fiber laser cutting machine does not have an automatic cutting process and cutting parameter database in the system. Cutting operators can only manually draw and cut based on experience, and cannot achieve automatic perforation and cutting. Both require manual adjustment. Over time, the efficiency of fiber laser cutting machines is naturally very low.
3. The cutting power does not match the actual cutting thickness
Not selecting the corresponding fiber laser cutting machine according to the actual cutting situation, such as purchasing a 6000W power cutting equipment that needs to cut 25mm carbon steel plates in large quantities. The equipment can indeed cut 25mm carbon steel plates, but the cutting speed is slow, and long-term cutting can lead to an increase in the damage rate of lens consumables and even affect the focusing lens. It is recommended to use 8000W or 10000W power for cutting and processing, which is more suitable.
4. Unsuitable cutting method
No cutting methods such as co edge, edge borrowing, or bridging were used when cutting sheet metal. This way, the cutting path is long, the cutting time is long, and the production efficiency is also very low. At the same time, the usage of consumables will also increase, resulting in high cost expenditures.
Analysis of the causes of explosion in fiber laser cutting
For laser cutting, except in a few cases where the cutting starts from the edge of the sheet, it is generally necessary to first use the laser to pierce a small hole in the sheet, and then start cutting from the small hole. In thick plate cutting, poor perforation can easily lead to poor cutting and processing. When laser cutting machine users cut plates with a diameter of 6mm or more, which is also known as medium thick plates, it is easy to experience the phenomenon of holes bursting during drilling, resulting in incomplete cutting samples or unstable follower tracking.
Cause of explosion
1. The pulse duty cycle is relatively large; 2. Excessive perforation pressure setting; 3. The perforation pulse frequency is too high; 4. Between multi-stage perforations, there is no stopping light blowing or the blowing time is too short.
Solution
Peak power should be as high as possible to improve perforation efficiency; Ensure that the laser spot does not hit the nozzle, and reduce the perforation focus appropriately; The oxygen perforation pressure is equivalent to the cutting pressure; Add stop light blowing between multi-level perforations to prevent holes from exploding. Reduce the blowing pressure, which will slowly penetrate the sheet during drilling and will not cause deflagration.

Adjusting the gas and air pressure of the laser cutting machine separately for drilling and cutting can effectively reduce the probability of hole explosion.
