Laser wire filling fusion welding of aluminum alloy

 

Laser wire filling fusion welding technology uses laser as the heat source and is mostly applied in the connection of the top cover and side wall outer plate. It melts the filling welding wire and some of the base metal plates, and partially melts the metal. After the metal cools down, a stable connection is formed. This method is different from traditional laser brazing, where the filler wire material is aluminum wire, which is softer than the brazed CuSi3 wire. It requires strict control of the gap and reduction of aluminum oxidation. Therefore, a pressure roller system and a protective gas system are required.

 

Pressure roller system, which can be set to the required pressure according to the actual working conditions to meet the demand, with a pressure setting range of 0-400N. The pressure in the system is set to 60N-120N to ensure good clearance during the pressing process of the pressure roller and not cause deformation of the plate due to excessive pressure, which will affect the welding quality. It also ensures that the distance between the pressure roller and the wire feeding tip is maintained at an optimal distance of 5mm-8mm after extending.

 

Aluminum wire is prone to oxidation during the melting process, especially under high temperatures. Oxygen can dissolve in liquid metal and form pores, resulting in poor welding. Therefore, protective gases need to be used during the welding process. Argon is an inert gas that is insoluble in liquid metals. During welding, it can isolate air, reduce the impact of plasma on laser, and protect the metal melt pool.

Aluminum alloy laser fusion welding is a process in which a sufficiently high power density beam is used to irradiate the material, causing it to evaporate and form high-temperature steam. During the beam movement, the welding area condenses with the rapid decrease in temperature. By this method, the outer plate base material is partially melted and connected to the inner plate. Its advantages lie in fast welding speed and high welding accuracy, which not only achieve relatively high strength but also have beautiful and neat forming surfaces with clear patterns.

 

The laser fusion welding control system has an analog output function. By setting parameters through software, the analog output can provide the required power to the laser. In order to stabilize the welding quality, periodic power can be set, and 12 sets of parameters with different powers can be set within one cycle. The laser beam undergoes high-speed deflection at a given frequency. When the frequency is set to 100Hz, the scanning time for one cycle is only 0.01 seconds. The X direction is the welding direction, and the Y direction is the beam deflection direction. The amplitude of the beam deflection can be adjusted according to the actual plate situation on site. The focal length of the welding head is measured by the equipment.
